The MindGame quietly plays a pivotal role in the successful outcomes for professional and amateur track and field athletes across the globe. Most athletes, coaches, clubs, and institutions invest heavily to ensure access to the best physical training, gear, equipment and facilities, However, few invest in addressing and developing the mental aspect of the athlete. Athletes aren't merely gladiators - they are people. They each have a history & a future, competition-fears and execution-concerns; past traumatic events and great successes; athletic goals and personal dreams. Any of these can and will play a role in mentally affecting the athlete's optimal performance - at any time and on any stage.  The MindGame transitions athletes into achieving peak mental states that continually drive peak athletic performance throughout their seasons and careers.

WHY THE MINDGAME?

SUCCESS        STORIES

I started working with Nicholas and The Mind Game a couple years ago.I was going through a very difficult  time in my track and field career, to the point of me wanting to quit! Not having an equipment contract, working a full-time job and with no coach, I was at my wits end. This was when I relied heavily on The MindGame. Nicholas worked with me that entire season! My psyche transformed to a totally different level - beyond what I ever knew I was capable of. I transitioned from not wanting to go to practice, to going training and hitting marks beyond my expectations. Being a long jumper and not having a second set of eyes to help was very frustrating...I would call Nicholas crying and after a few minutes, it was a different ball game.

That season I went on to win a fourth national long jump title with a season best mark and went on to represent my country at the Commonwealth Games. I dedicated my entire season to "The MindGame!

Unbeknownst to Mr. Powell, I have been racking my brain, trying to figure out the best way to express my gratitude for the time and effort he has put into helping me become the best athlete I could be. I have always been told I was too nonchalant and that I lacked urgency but with his tutelage that changed. I was able to unearth the aggression within me and have more control over my nervousness for my athletics performances. I did not fully realize that the mental training strategies he taught me would be applicable to my post-athletics life.  For that, I am forever grateful for his expertise. He is more than just a sports psychologist-he is a mentor, teacher, and confidante who I highly recommend.

It's incredible how much of an athlete’s success is mental. Every competitor is in great shape. You may know how to run, jump, throw, or hurdle. You may have great equipment and event-coaches. But when it really boils down to it, it's not just the athlete who wants it the most. It’s the one who’s also in a peak-mental state to execute now!
